I've removed my Brewing Dock after Brewing, and there's a lot of Fresh Press in the DockUpdated a month ago
If when you remove your Brewing Dock there is leftover Fresh Press settled there, this means the Fresh Press and water weren't mixed enough for it to become fully incorporated.
We have a few tips that should help avoid this in future:
- Ensure that you're shaking your Pinter for a minimum of 30 seconds when mixing the Press with the water and Yeast. You may find you will need to shake it much longer though depending on the Fresh Press style. Alternatively, you could stir it with a sterilised long plastic spoon to ensure it is fully incorporated.
- If you've kept your Pinter Pack in the fridge before using, make sure to leave it out to get to room temperature for at least 3 hours before starting Brewing. To be extra sure, you can pop your Press in a bowl of hot water for 15 minutes before cutting open, and this should give it a boost to help it get to the right temperature.
- Make sure that the water you're using to mix with isn't too cold. This ensures the Brew reaches the correct temperature throughout the Brewing phase more quickly.
- Ensure your Pinter is kept at the optimal temperatures during the Brewing stage. These are 64F for all Ales and Ciders, and 60F for all Pilsners and Lagers. We know this may be tricky during colder months but storing it in an airing cupboard or constantly warm room may be best.
- If the room isn't at ideal temperatures we would suggest allowing your brew to ferment a few days over the recommended brewing times. This will help the yeast to fully ferment the beer.
If you notice any signs of this happening to your brew, you can continue brewing it but this may affect the flavor and alcohol content of the brew.
